TEXT OF SPEECH

Hi, my name is Ryanl. I’m in the Foothill class of 2021 and I’m excited to be here. All the good things I’ve heard about this school are definitely true. My Middle School experience was not the best, and so I’m hoping my High School experience will be, and only in the first couple days of being here it has proven to be! The next four years of my life here will be something to remember until I die. I have many goals for school here, and I’ll say them right now.

My main academic goal is to get straight A’s throughout all of highschool and get a GPA above a 4.0. My first class goal is for Spanish. Since it’s my first year of taking spanish, I would like to just learn the basics. How to have a basic conversation with anyone, how to read in spanish, and how to write in spanish. My spanish goal for all of High School is to become bilingual in it, that would be awesome. Another academic goal of mine is in my EDA class. I want to learn how to fully access a computers front and back ends, while also learning the basics of photoshop and maybe even more. In my Health class I want to learn about everything that can help your social, physical, and mental health. I have no main goals in my English, Biology, or Math class as of right now. I’ve always been able to pass those classes with little stress and a good grade, but it’s likely to be more of a challenge here, and I’m up for that challenge.

Ryan's Goals For Freshman Year

For goals with my family, there aren’t that many. I’ve always gotten along with my Mom, Dad, and brother. Of course there’s always those arguments you have with your sibling/siblings, but pretty much everyone knows that, and after a couple minutes or longer you’ll be done yelling at each other. One thing I would like is for my brother to make me train with him when he’s playing playing soccer. Because he’s the captain on Varsity, and I would like to be in his position either Junior or Senior year. He’s a good role model for me and another one of my goals is to be like him once I’m older. For my Mom, there’s seriously not that many goals I have. One may to be stop getting mad over little things and appreciate absolutely everything I have and that I’m given. I would also like to talk to her about most of the things that are going on inside and outside of school. Such as ny grades, sports, and other things similar to that. I would like to see my Dad more often, since I only see him a couple times a year. Other than that, I’m really happy with my family and everyone in my life.

The friends of mine that are in my life I consider family. Some of the friends I’ve had ever since I moved to the U.S. in the third grade went to a different school, so I’ll definitely have to connect with them outside of school so that I don’t lose contact with them. Most of my friends are here at Foothill though, which I’m glad about. We hang out in school, but I’d like to also hang out outside of it more with them. So that our main conversations aren’t always school related and we can actually have some fun. So yeah, my really good friends that go here are Aidan, Jayden, Hunter, and more. They can act really stupid at times, but I’m glad that I can call them my friends. So yeah, I don’t really have to many goals with my friends, I’ll just see where High School takes all of us.

I have a lot of sports goals, and not just for High School either. My main one for right now is to stay on JV soccer and get better so that I can play Varsity from here on and forward. And as I said earlier, I would like to be captain of Varsity in the future. Another goal is that next year I may do another sport and not just soccer. Such as XC or Track, because I’ve always had an interest in running, unlike most people. I ran XC last year and my goal before the season started was to get a mile under six minutes, which I achieved. So my new goal for running would be to get a mile under five minutes and thirty seconds. I used to play on a club soccer team until I quit to do XC, but now that I haven’t been doing it I would like to join a team and get as good as I used to be.

So yeah, those are my goals. I’m hoping that I can achieve most of them by the end of my High School career. But goals don’t achieve themselves, so I’ll have to put in a lot of work and effort, which I’m one hundred percent willing to do. Thank you for listening to what I had to say and I hope you have encouragement like I do to accomplish all your goals.
